Take the Next Step Toward Technology Management BAS

The Technology Management Bachelors of Applied Science (BAS) program is designed to build upon an AS degree in Software and Database Development, Network Systems Technology, or Cybersecurity.   However, this degree is open to any student, with an AA degree, seeking to expand their technology and leadership skills. This degree completion prepares you to move into a supervisory or management position. The BAS in Technology Management degree program is one of four bachelor degree programs offered at Gulf Coast State College in Panama City, Florida, and prepares students to become effective technology leaders and innovators.

Getting your bachelor’s degree in Technology Management is an important way to fast-track your career. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, job growth between 2014 and 2024 for computer and information systems managers is projected to increase by 15% with a national median salary of $131,600 per year.  Moira Alexander, CIO magazine, states “by 2020, reports estimate that there will 700,000 new project management jobs in the United States.” The demand for computer and information systems managers will continue to grow as firms expand to digital platforms.

You can transfer credits in from a regional accredited institution
Based on your specialization and experience software application developer, systems analysts, project manager, database administrator, computer user support  specialist or network administrator. 
Internships are available. See the COOP web-page for further information.
Classes are offered in a variety of modalities (face-to-face, on-line, hybrid (a combination of on-line and face-to-face) and times. See the Technology Management degree plan for the typical semester the courses are offered.
Information Technology is the current specialization. You can further specialize in software application development or systems administration.

Plan on spending 10 -15 hours per week preparing and working on projects for each class.
 
The median salary for Computer and Information Systems Managers in this region is $37.39/hr (EMSI Q2 2016 Data Set). The median salary nationally is $63.27/hr (Bureau of Labor Statistics).

The computer labs in the Advanced Technology Center on the Panama City campus offer up-to-date software for student to create design documents, develop software applications, project management documents, and design and develop web-application.
Who is Eligible for the Technology Management Program?
This program is designed for students who have completed an AS in Software and Database Development, Network Services Technology, or a similar technical degree from GCSC or another institution with a desire to increase their technical skills in their chosen area of specialty. This program is also open to students who have completed a general AA or any AA transfer track who have in interest in increasing their technical skills in information technology, software and database development, cybersecurity or systems administration. If you are seeking an associate degree, you’ll need to complete this degree prior to applying to the BAS Technology Management program. Please contact Dr. Wendy Payne at 850.872.3876 for guidance.
